Making Waves – Breaking Ground
Lovers of art and photography will know that, for the last few summers, Bowhouse near St Monans has hosted incredible exhibitions of works under the SPACE TO BREATHE banner. This year, SPACE TO BREATHE returns in collaboration with Purdy Hicks Gallery to present a new exhibition, and all are invited.
MAKING WAVES – BREAKING GROUND
SPACE TO BREATHE organisers Sophie and Alexander Lindsay have invited Purdy Hicks Gallery to collaborate on a major art exhibition to be held at Bowhouse.
Their combined curatorial skills will bring together “an exceptional group of contemporary Scottish and International artists“, many of whom have never exhibited in Scotland before. Most of the works will be for sale.
Making Waves – Breaking Ground will feature paintings, photographs and video work by 11 renowned artists including:
- Julie Brook
- Samantha Clark
- Susan Derges
- Jonathan Delafield Cook
- Alexander Lindsay
- Katherin Linkersdorff
- Anais Tondeur
Individually, each artist has been selected for their “exploration of nature and landscape“.
Earth & Water …
The elements of earth and water feature prominently, and are introduced into their artistic processes in “highly personal, considered ways, reflecting on the shifting forces of the natural world – its impermanence and endurance, its turbulence and serenity“.
Through diverse media and expression, the artists “underscore the essential role of nature in our wellbeing, reinforcing the urgency to rethink our relationship with the land and the evolving human connection to the natural world“.
The exhibition aims to encourage us to observe and re-evaluate the life-giving elements and our connection and responsibility towards them.
The exhibition …
The exhibition is being held at Bowhouse (St Monans, KY10 2DB) and will be open daily from 10am until 5pm.
It will run from Saturday 19th July to Monday 4th August – reopening on Saturday 16th August until Sunday 31st August.
Please note, it is closed on each Monday except Monday 4th August.
